Motor Starting Analysis

RjX Engineering performs motor starting analysis to analyze system conditions during the dynamic starting of large motors. This verifies that the motor and power system is stable and capable of delivering necessary power to the motor and other system loads during startup. The analysis includes:

Calculation of voltage drop

Includes motor starting method used (across the line, RVSS, VFD, etc.)

Calculation of inrush current

Why is Motor Starting Analysis Needed?

Motor starting analysis is useful when a facility contains large to very large motors that need to have starting conditions analyzed to ensure that there will not be system issues due to startup. These motors draw large starting currents when started across the line and often need to use reduced current methods like RVSSs, VFDs, etc. to ensure smooth startup.

A motor starting analysis calculates system conditions during startup of these motors and can ensure that the starting method used along with general system loading will not result in system issues. These results are summarized and provided in the report.
